Viewing and managing additional events in episodes of care
You can record additional events in a patient's episode of care. For example, a phone call with the patient, or an outbound IPT Inter Provider Transfer. A referral is transferred from one healthcare provider to another healthcare provider. referral. You can record additional events from Patient admin, and depending on your organisation, from Case Notes.
You can view and manage additional events in a patient's episode of care from Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > Other.

You can't do this on a mobile.
Viewing and managing additional events in episodes of care on a desktop

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways, select Other.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > Other, you can view and manage additional events in a patient's episode of care.
Additional Events Requiring Outcome |
Shows additional events that you need to submit, or record the outcome for. Double-click on an event to view the form for the event. |

Shows additional events that are completed or cancelled. |

When a clinician signs off a patient's test results, Nervecentre adds this event. When you record the outcome of the event, you can see notes that the clinician added when they signed off the results. For example, a clinician might ask you to book the patient an appointment to discuss the patient's results. |

When you receive a letter for the patient, you can add this event. |

You can record events that occurred during an episode of care. For example, an ad-hoc phone call, or an outbound IPT Inter Provider Transfer. A referral is transferred from one healthcare provider to another healthcare provider. referral.

To record an event:

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > All, select an episode of care.
To select an episode of care, from the top left of the box, select .

Select Record Event.

Select the type of event.
-
Complete the form, including all mandatory fields.
Mandatory fields are marked .

Select Submit Event.
The event appears in Patient admin > Show pathways > Other.
If the event needs you to record an outcome, the event has the status 'Outcome required'.

Depending on your organisation, you can record an additional event from Case Notes, and Nervecentre automatically creates an episode of care for that event. For example, to record a phone call from a GP or patient when the patient doesn't currently have an episode of care.
- From your patient list, select a patient.

Select Case Notes.

Select a case notes profile to filter the list of entries.

Select and choose options until you find the additional event you want to add.

Select the additional event.
Depending on your organisation, Nervecentre creates a new episode of care for the event.
A form appears.

Complete the form, including all mandatory fields.

Mandatory fields are marked .

Some fields might already be populated with information added elsewhere in Nervecentre.

Select Submit Event.
You can view the additional event from Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > Other.

You record the outcome of specific additional events. These specific events depend on your organisation. For example, you might record the outcome of an outbound IPT referral.

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > Other > Additional Events Requiring Outcome, select an event with the status 'Outcome required'.

Select Outcome.
A form appears. This shows:

The current RTT status of the episode of care
-
Any booked future activities related to the episode of care

The clinical outcome
-
Any procedures related to the episode of care

From Outcome, select an outcome.
More options appear. These options depend on the outcome you chose.

Select options until Continue appears.

Select Continue.
What appears next depends on the options you chose.
One of the following appears:

Future Activity
You must decide what happens to other activities related to the episode of care. For example, referrals and waiting list entries.

Actions Taken / Required
Shows any actions Nervecentre has automatically done. For example, added the patient to a PIFU list or waiting list.
Shows any actions you need to do before you can record the outcome. For example, list a procedure, or book an appointment.

No Actions Required
Appears when you don't need to anything other than record the outcome.

Select Complete Outcome.

Optional: depending on the outcome you selected, you can send letters about that outcome.
For example, you might need to send letters when you place the patient on a PIFU pathway, or book a new appointment.

Select a correspondence option to change who the letters are sent to.
To not send the letters, select None.
The options you see depend on your organisation.

Select Click to preview letters.
The letters appear in your organisation's PDF viewer.
A list of letters appears on the right. This shows the recipient of each letter and how the letter is delivered. For example, 'GP - MESH' or 'Patient - Manual print'. To view a letter, select view.
You can also see information about the patient's preferred method of receiving letters, and preferred letter format.

Depending on your permissions, if Nervecentre is sending a patient's letter by the patient's preferred delivery method, by Docmail, or by email, you can choose to manually print and send the letter instead.
To manually print and send a patient's letter, select Prevent sending of this letter, I will manually print it instead.

Select Send.
The event moves to Completed and Cancelled Additional Events, and the event's status updates to 'Completed'.
